Some examples of point level devices are VRF II, Pulse Point II and Roto-Bin-Dicator.Ĭontinuous level sensors, represented on the left side of the silo in the image below, monitor the level of material continuously during the filling/emptying process. As corn becomes quicksand inside of a 50-foot silo, the town locals must put aside their deeply rooted differences to save Cody Rose from drowning in the grain they harvest.

Point level sensors, represented on the right side of the silo in the image below, are used when you need to know if the material in a vessel has reached a specific point (for example, high level, low level, or refill point). Disaster strikes in a small American farm town when a teenage boy becomes the victim of a grain entrapment.

SILO SERIES HOW TO
In our first of three series we will be looking at the types of level sensors and how to mount them within your tank.ĭepending on the application, the type of level sensors used and the location in which they are mounted on your silo will vary. Whilst we are advocates for the weighing method of measuring silo contents (lean more about our bolt-on weighing sensors here), its clear that point level measurement and continuous level measurement within liquid based products can give effective long term results. As part of a series, will be posting monthly blog posts entitled “Silo Series”, which aim to give a simple breakdown of the level measurement technology, the types of sensors available and how best to make use of them. Minsterport have been working closely with Bindicator over the last few months to provide an in-depth guide on how to make best use of the Bindicator range of silo measuring products.
